Welcome, dear friends, friends of our city Poreč, all of you who know our town and you who came here for the first time and you who will yet to become our friends. The door of our city, the treasury of cultural and historical heritage, thousand year old civilization tradition and rich touristic offer, are opened to you.
You are welcomed to Giostra, the historical festival that we resurrect for the fourth year on the streets of our city. Hop in the time machine and travel with us three hundred years in past, on squares, races, promenades, on rich menus with chosen delicacies, on concerts and plays that we will perform on authentic locations in the very heart of our city.
Meet us, Poreč noble men and women, knights, jugglers, hawkers, drummers, flag carriers and street entertainers...
Aware and proud that Poreč has such a rich cultural-historical heritage, we decided to peak in the late 1745 year with historical festival - Giostra, founded on the files with yellowed scrolls of the archive records from the Museum of Poreč Territory and State Archive in Pazin.
On them states written that on 14th of February, year 1745 Giostra was held in our town, a knight game that has its roots in the middle ages.
Inhale the breath of the past times and allow yourselves to be taken over by the magic of Giostra, crackling silk of elegant crinolines, puzzling glances of the ladies, shining armours of handsome knights, aromas of selected confections and intoxicating drops of the finest wines. This year, we will, carried by the breath of the history of our town, resurrect the tradition and from 10th until 12th September, travel three centuries in history. We will be followed be bars of music and dance moves from 18th century.
Giostra is for us, your hosts, not only way of life but a resurrected tradition, Giostra is our duty.
